Finally, it’s here!
Mihoyo officially announced that the Huawei HarmonyOS version of ‘Genshin Impact’ is set to start recruitment testing at 12:00 today, exclusively for HarmonyOS users. This round of recruitment is aimed at ensuring seamless compatibility with the future versions of HarmonyOS. Since the HarmonyOS ecosystem has been launched, many gamers have long awaited the release of a HarmonyOS version of ‘Genshin Impact,’ as popular games like ‘King of Glory’ and ‘Peace Elite’ from Tencent are already available on HarmonyOS. If ‘Genshin Impact’ also supports HarmonyOS, it would truly be a perfect complement, benefiting both parties.
As shown on Weibo, it’s worth noting that the version being recruited currently is still in the adjustment phase. Therefore, adjustments based on player feedback may be made, and the game will be perfected step by step. Additionally, participants in the testing must sign a confidentiality agreement. On one hand, this is to avoid disrupting the experience of players on the official server, and on the other hand, concerns are raised about potential misunderstandings from some players if the information were to leak.
With that said, what devices are being recruited? Let’s take a look. According to official messages from miHoYo, currently supported straight models include the Huawei Pura 80 series, nova 14 series, and Huawei Mate 70 series, while foldable models include the Huawei Mate X6. The recruitment period is from 12:00 PM on June 27 to 2:00 PM on July 4. Interested players can fill out the questionnaire to participate in the recruitment.
As a 3D mobile game with high performance requirements, ‘Genshin Impact’ is often used as a benchmark for testing the performance of flagship smartphones. The launch of this HarmonyOS version not only enhances the performance experience, ecosystem compatibility, and user rights for HarmonyOS users, but also symbolizes a technological advancement forward.
Firstly, in terms of performance, it has undergone in-depth optimization. Native HarmonyOS applications can reduce system overhead and improve frame rate stability, particularly on high-end devices, which may support 120FPS high frame rates. In terms of battery life, CPU and GPU optimizations at the hardware level have addressed heat issues.
Secondly, in terms of ecosystem compatibility, at the Huawei press conference in May, Mr. He mentioned that the HarmonyOS 5th generation has been updated to over 40 versions, with over 100 system-level features added, with new applications being released daily. If ‘Genshin Impact’ can be successfully adapted, according to the ‘HarmonyOS multi-device collaboration’ feature, seamless switching of game progress between smartphones and tablets, as well as between smartphones and computers, may no longer be a dream. Additionally, it can utilize smart screen casting for online multiplayer gaming, which feels extremely comfortable on a larger screen.
Lastly, there is strategic significance for the HarmonyOS ecosystem. The successful adaptation of leading games provides evidence of HarmonyOS’s ability to handle large 3D games, which will likely attract more manufacturers to follow suit, accelerating the ‘de-Androidization’ process. Furthermore, Huawei plans to complete the original native adaptation of the top 500 applications by 2027. If ‘Genshin Impact’ can be successfully implemented, it will directly cover the core needs of the gaming user base.
In short, although the performance is still in the adjustment phase, the game ecosystem of HarmonyOS will continue to grow over time, and it is not impossible that future gaming experiences will be ‘interconnected’ with all things! If the optimization results are significant, HarmonyOS may truly become the third major gaming platform after iOS and Android.
As for what other games you are looking forward to being adapted to HarmonyOS next, we would love to hear your thoughts.
